Kimberley Ketsa

I am a Mediator and Registered Collaborative Lawyer, specializing in divorce and family law. I can also assist clients with their Wills and Estate matters and Real Estate transactions.

My practice as a lawyer and mediator is to work hard to ensure the client’s voice is heard, while finding the best possible legal solutions to meet their goals.

As a trained mediator and registered Collaborative lawyer, I am committed to creating a safe place for individuals in dispute to have an open and honest discussion, guiding them to organically design their own solutions.

If matters cannot be settled outside of Court, I have extensive experience in family law litigation in multiple levels of court and court locations in Alberta. It is because of this experience that I believe alternative dispute resolution options should be genuinely embraced by people going through a family legal dispute. Fighting in court should be a last resort.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Alberta in 2009, including achieving additional certification in Peace and Post-Conflict studies. I obtained my Juris Doctor law degree in 2014 from the University of Calgary, and was called to the Alberta bar in July, 2015.

I also studied law and politics abroad at Universidad de las
Américas in Mexico and Lancaster University in the United Kingdom.

I am an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, serving on local and national executives of the Family Law and Young Lawyers sections. Part of this work involves taking part in case law and legislative review, public education events and important discourse about access to justice issues. In 2018, I was part of a Round-Table discussion with the Minister of Justice of Alberta in regard to introducing new legislation regarding common-law spouses and property rights in the Province.

I am a long time volunteer and supporter of the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, providing free legal advice to low income Albertans. I also volunteer for the Edmonton Food Bank.

I like to stay active through skiing, volleyball and slo-pitch. I’m a big Edmonton Eskimos fan. I’m a movie buff and if I had more time, I’d probably start a scary movie blog.

I practice law at Tkachuk & Patterson in West Edmonton. For more information on my practice and our services, visit our website.
